Position Summary: Operator is responsible for Extract Packaging Plant production processes as well as adherence to all plant safety regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
GRADE 6
50% 1. Production:
Packaging extract and IKE and using forklift to help transfer packaging to stage areas. Help set filler parameters, box packer parameters, gluer, labeler parameters, and laser marks set up. Perform quality checks on finished goods: conformance checks shall include cans, jugs, and drums inspections. Assist in label room: make labels, maintain printers and material stock levels. Take product samples. Stage materials for packing out. And use a forklift to help transfer finished products to the warehouse. Coordinate with Crew Lead to perform packing operations at multiple filler stations.
15% 2. 5S / Maintenance:
General housekeeping and facility maintenance. Complete cleaning and organization tasks daily. Troubleshoot equipment used to perform the above duties and perform any minor maintenance required. Inspect equipment and make sure the required maintenance is up to date. Perform machine preventative maintenance and lubrication routines and perform depot level repairs of fillers, conveyors, lid seamers, box packer, palletizer, wrapper, gluers, extract pumps, valves, and piping.
10% 3. Safety:
Inspect safety equipment. Ensure safety communication board is up to date and update if necessary. Assist with writing safety SOPs when needed.
10% 4. ERP:
Use D365 to scan and receive items for the plant, including inventory counts of all products, supplies, and finished goods. Entry of required production information into the appropriate checklists in D365.
10% 5. Leadership:
Assist in training of all operators. Fill in for Inventory Control Operator and Crew Lead as needed. Assist in developing SOPs and training material. Perform leadership tasks through positive communication and coordination with the team. Help implement [solutions to] and communicate production, safety, quality, and food safety issues. Create an environment of problem solving by utilizing the Kaizen log and other communication tools and encouraging others to do the same. Assist the Production Supervisor and Crew Leader with other leadership duties as requested.

Conditions of Employment:
1. Must comply with all John I. Haas, Inc. policies and procedures, including successful passing of pre-employment drug test.
2. Must comply with our Integrated Management System (IMS) and be trained on procedures applicable to the requirements of the position, including managing significant quality, environmental, and food safety aspects.
3. Work a scheduled 40-hour week. Hours worked in excess of 8 per day as required to finish a batch operation are paid as overtime per the current Union Agreement.
4. Must be willing to work in a production facility.
5. Must be mobile, including ability to climb stairs and lift 55 lbs.
