Summary
The Parts Receiving Specialist (Inventory Purchasing Specialist 1) plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of our Parts and Materials team. This position handles the receiving of all special orders and stock order inventory, bills all special-order inventory to the correct location and delivers parts to our mechanics. This position is constantly transitioning from processing paperwork to physically checking in and handing out inventory. This position is also responsible for picking up parts from vendors that do not deliver.
ABOUT FLEET SERVICES DIVISION
The Fleet Services Division manages King County's portfolio of vehicles and equipment. The team performs acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of approximately 3,000 fleet assets for the County's services associated with the Sheriff's Office, Public Health, Roads, Parks, Wastewater, Water and Land Resources, and other agencies. The division manages two maintenance shops which include robust storerooms of automotive parts, materials, and construction supplies as well as several technicians working in the field to support remote customer sites.
In addition, the Fleet Division is responsible for the disposition of the county's personal property assets, which includes a surplus warehouse in Georgetown. Disposal methods can include re-use within the county, donation to verified and approved non-profits, and sales through online portals or sealed/negotiated bids.

Job Duties
To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate the knowledge, skill, and ability to:
* Receive inbound shipments from external vendors;
* Operate a forklift safely to unload products;
* Lift up to 50lbs;
* Perform physical inventory counting;
* Inspect inbound inventory for damage or missing components;
* Input and research inventory and disbursement records, inventory adjustments and parts history/usage;
* Review daily computer reports and reconcile computer reports with source documents;
* Assist customers by looking up and pulling products for them.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
We are looking for candidates who:
* Have a knowledge of basic warehousing equipment and supplies.
* Have a knowledge of general office procedures and policies.
* Have a knowledge of basic accounting or bookkeeping principles.
* Have skill in operating a forklift.
* Have strong customer service skills.
* Have basic computer skills.
* Can follow direction.
* Have basic mathematic skills.
* Are able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - In order to accept this opportunity, you must be able to:
* Obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License or have the ability to travel throughout the County in a timely manner including remote locations where public transportation is not available.
* Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
* Ability to obtain a King County Forklift Certification.
Supplemental Information
Work location: You may be scheduled to work at both Fleet Shops- Renton location (155 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056) and Orcas location (707 S Orcas Street, Seattle, WA 98108) depending on operational needs.
Work schedule: The base work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with work shifts ranging from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday.
Shift hours may fluctuate with the seasons and customer requirements. During serious weather conditions or other emergencies, shifts may change to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Employees are expected to report to work during these emergencies.
Union representation: This position is represented by Local 117- Joint Units Agreement.
